shoertymcshort Jan 17-The Bronze Bow by Elizabeth George Speare
This is a book I read in literature circles. The Bronze Bow is a really boring book! It's about his kid named Daniel and he lives in the mountians with a group of other people. It's set at the time of christ and they are planning to go to war with the romans. I didn't like this book because it was so boring it talked about other characters more than it did Daniel. They always go from the mountians to the city mountians to the city. On a scale from 1-5 i would rate this book a 1. I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone even if they are bored out of their skulls!

blackbat January 16, 2008 Number the Stars by Lois Lowry
This book was read in Literature Circles. Number the Stars is a fantastic book thats in the Historical Fiction gerne. The book is easy- intermediate for average readers. On a scale of 1-5 I would rate this book a 4, since Historical Fiction is one of my least favorite gerne, but this book has 'caught-me-off'. I love this book and recomend it for readers in a lower level. The words in Number the Stars are easy to read- but paints pictures in my head! Some words are from the history...
The book is about a girl named Ellen (Jewish) who's being chased by German soldiers. As Annemarie's family is trying to hide Ellen and her family, and the chase begins...
Wonderful book, amazingly written: International Book Reviews

chocopasta Nov.18,2007 Matilda by Roald Dhal
This book is full of humor and exciting events and emotions. This book is about a girl named Matilda, whose parents treated her as a garbage dump. When she first joined her new school she read almost all the kid's books in the library and she knew most of the math. Her teacher was stunned with her fabulous answers and wanted to put her in a higher grade. But her headmistress would not allow her teacher to do so. In the middle were some funny parts which brought life in the book and then towards the end Matilda was able to get into a highre grade and that was the happy end of the story. On a scale of 1-5 I would rate this book a 4.5 because it is a well very written book and in most places I could actually visualise most of the scenes and the book left me a thought. I would highly recommend this book to Roald Dahl fans.

guitarocks November 18, 2007 The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes by Arthur Conan Doyle
Wowee! This book is a mystery classic about Sherlock Holmes, who is a very clever and smart detective. This book has three different detective adventures. Every adventure has a different theme and is very exciting. On a scale of 1-5, I would rate this book a 4.5 because sometimes it drags a bit. But otherwise it's amazing!

pinksparkles123 Nov. 18, 2007 The Twelve Tasks of Flavia Gemina by Caroline Lawrence
I have just started reading this book. It's December, A.D. 79 and it's the special month of Saturnalia which is a festival when the people of Rome get to do whatever they want while anything can happen. Unfortunately, I don't really know much about this book yet since I have just started and left off at page 4. But I'm really excited in knowing what will happen to Flavia Gemina and what the twelve tasks are!

nerd101 Nov 17 The Winter Nights by Chris Riddell & Paul Stewart
A weird and uninteresting book. ON a scale of 5 I would give this book a 4 because it mainly talks about promotions and some violence. It also can bore someone to death if they dare to read it. It is about a young boy called Quint who gets into The Knights Academy. When everything is going pretty smoothly, Vilnix, Quint's enemy, just has to barge in and make amess of stuff. Like killing one of the highest people in the academy and putting Quint and his best friend in mortal danger. Luckily Quint is able to overcome all of these obstacles, or does he?

Arsenal1231 Nov 17 Naruto Shonen Grahic Novel Volume 1 by Masashi Kishimoto
I have started reading it but its not finished it yet its really boring I would rate it a 2.9 because I don't think I could finish this book without falling asleep reading it because it started by saying he was drawing graffiti on the statues of famous protectors of a town in Japan.

liverpoolforever Nov. 17, 2007 South by Southeast by Anthony Horowitz
This is another mystery book by Anthony Horowitz. This book is the latest in the Diamond brother series. Its about this one kid when his family emigrates to australia he sneaks out of the airplane to join with his brother. A 16 year old cop. His brother is not the smartest person in the world so he ends up in an accident and gets kicked out of the police. Now hes a private detective but hes broke. With no money he and his brother are shocked after a man races into his office and offers them lots of money for a tattered coat. Minutes laterthey find hes dead in a phonebooth. His last words were "suff bee suff iss" because of the train going behind them thats all the diamond brothers heard. What does "Suff bee suff iss" mean? Did he say "South by Southeast"? Whatever it was they had to figure it out fast. Once again they were in the chase, were they the cat or the mouse? you'll just have to read this book to find out. I rate this book a 5 out of 5 because in parts of the book there's lots of action but in the parts hat dont have a lot of action in them, the author makes up for it with humor.

spartan-117-Nov.17, 2007 Sabre-James Follet
This is my all time favourite book. Although it is not widely available it is still a great read! On a scale of 1-5 i will rate it a 4.5 because it does slow down sometimes. The story takes place in 4 places : St Omer where Sabre Industrie is headquartered, London where Triton Exploration is HQ, and in Seattle Joe Yavanoski is the boss of Aerospace Talent. In St Omer the SABRE is a spaceplane that will revelutionize long haul travel. But in America, the aviation department union boss Joe Yavanoski is frustrated because the spaceplane's design is 50% American and they had gotten no credit. He finds a man he needs Jean Lesseps and work's together to bring SABRE 005 the inaugrating fare paying flight down!! I'd definetly reccomend this book to Aviation Nuts and Science Fiction fans!

barca_fc nov. 16, 2007 Silverfin by Charlie Higson
This book is amazing, it has action, adventure, and a plot that you just have to read. Of course you heard of "the" James Bond. Well this is all about a teenage Bond and his first adventure in a broken down castle. There is strange activities in the castle and only one thing can stop it, Bond, James Bond. I would rate this a 4.9 out of 5 because it's a great read from start to finish with no bad parts. Though everything is well written, there are some parts that get s little of topic. The author does a great job making it flow and won't let you put it down until you finish it. Adventure lovers, this is your book!

liverpoolforever november 16, 2007 The Supernaturalist by Eoin Colfer
This is an action packed adventure about an orphan named cosmo hill. After being broken out of his orphange which was using the orphans as test subjects, he then teamed up with these people that call themselves the "supernaturalists" to hunt down a parasite that they think sucks out life. As they continue the hunt, cosmo finds that these parasites aren't what they seem and he learns the deep dark secretabout the parasites that will chage the way he thinks about tem forever. I would rate this book a 4.8 out of 5 because it really is interesting but in the beggining it is hard to find out what the author wants you to think. I think this is a great book and is great for any 6th grader looking for an exciting, funny and full of twists book.

Souriceymo November 16, 2007 Lilly’s Purple Plastic Purse by Kevin Henkes
This book is a short picture book and is an easy and fast read. The story is rather cute! Lilly is a little white mouse and is a great student in school. When she grows up, she wants to be a teacher, just like her own teacher. One day, Lilly brought her purple plastic purse to school with fashionable glasses and jingley quarters, but when her teacher takes the purse away from her because it is “distracting” the whole class. Will Lilly ever get her purple plastic purse back? The illustrations are wonderful. This might not be the type of book you usually read, but I think that it is still enjoyable. I would rate this book a four because although the book is very good, it’s not the absolute best book in the world.

choco_thunder, November 16, 2007 Stargirl by Jerry Spinelli
Stargirl is a slow book and it takes some time until it gets interesting. It's about a girl, Stargirl, and how when she comes to this high school she's very different. Eveyone excepts her as an entertainer and they enjoy her for some time, but then they start to get fed up by her, but she falls in love with Leo, a boy who still enjoys her, and they are happy until Leo starts getting ignored by everyone, along with Stargirl. This book is about his desperate attempt to change Stargirl so that they will fit in, but by doing so he's actually ruining the best thing he ever had. I would rate this book a 4.5 because it's really slow at some points. I recommend this book to people who like sad books with a little mystery and an unfinished ending.

choco_thunder, November 16, 2007 The Lottie Project by Jaqualine
This book is about Charlie and how she has this victorian history project, so she dicides to write a diary of a young victorian girls life, Lottie. Before the project is due she learns the reality of he life and that he mom, Jo, will change. I would rate this book a 3.5 because it's a good book, it's just that there's no real subject to it. I would recommend this book to people who are looking for a book to read after they have finished a really good series of books and want to settle down to a more calm or a realistic fiction book.

llamalove13 November 15, 2007 Man O War by Walter Farley
Man O War is about the life of a famous racehorse (Man O War), who was one of the best of all time. You follow Man O War's life from when he was a tiny foal to when he finally retires. This book is so wonderfully written that it makes you feel like you are actually there with him. This book has a very strong hook to make you want to keep reading. It's written by Walter Farley, who wrote the Black Stallion series.Man O War's genre is Biograophy/Fiction/Animal. It is mainly a true story but, has some made up parts (small details). I would give this book a 5 out of 5. I strongly recommend this book to horse lovers!

pinksparkles123 November 15, 2007 The Thieves of Ostia by Caroline Lawrence
I am currently reading another Roman Mystery book called The Thieves of Ostia. This book is a really thrilling book to read. So far, Jonathan's dog Bobas has just been killed with only his body left at Jonathan's house. Jonathan is very desperate to find out who killed his beloved watchdog. Flavia Gemina, Nubia and young Lupus have volunteered to help out Jonathan in chasing after the mysterious killer. So by were I am right now, I would rate this book a 5 already because the author Caroline Lawrence has brought in each character in the right order and described each and every one of them very carefully (since this is the first book of The Roman Mysteries). And I'm really liking this book a lot!

manchesterunited8 nov 15 The Conch Bearer, Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni
The Conch Bearer is a wonderful fantasy book I recomend. It has won 5 awards, including publishers weelky best book of the year and I could not disagree. The book is about an average poor Indian boy: poor house,no school and lives in poverty. Suddenly an old man confronts the poor boy and tells him about this secret group known as the brotherhood and the man who betrayed them. The Indian boy is then chosen to hide an importatnt artifact from the trator and deliver it to the brotherhood. Along the way he finds much evil, and he will prove his will and streinth along the way. I would rate this a 4.5/5 because its really interesting and all, but the author dosent talk out the charecters alot

November 15, 2007 20,000 Leagles Under the Sea, Jules Verne
This book is adventours, mysterious, and a 'treasure' book to read! I would rank this book a 4 out of 5, because in many ways this book is wonderful, but I think that the author could have chosen better word choice that could paint a brighter picture in my mind. Such as have written more simillies, and metaphorse...The book is about a mysterious sea monster as giant as a cruise ship, with many, many tenticles; like an octupos. Men from cities/villiges near the sea, are trying to hunt down the harmful creature. Some brave men set into the sea trying to find the moster but some get thrown off in their search of the monster. They some how lands in Captin Nemo, a commander of an underwater vessel, and saves them! But then he turns them into prisoners of the dark underwater vessel. While these men try to bring freedom back to their lives, the strike many life-threatening adventours. What will happen next? Read for yourself!

blackbat November 15, 2007 Walk Two Moons by Sharon Creech
Walk Two Moons is a book I highly recomend. This book won the Newbery Award, and is wonderful. But I personally think Walk Two Moons is more of a girls reading choice. If I ranked this book 1-5 I would rate it a 5, because in this book, there are many adventours 'hapenings'. You can feel yourself being pulled into the book, and probaly can't un-hook yourself once you have started reading! The book shows about love, friendship, death, and family. It shows alot of the charecters personality traits, and will show how she goes through lose, love, friendship, and more! While I read this book I feel the way she feels, and you will too... if you read the book. The book is so well written and incredebly adventours! It is about a girl, who's mother left her to a faraway place. So one day, her gradparents decides to drive there, to see the Mom, well, she tags alone, and starts her story about Pheobe, a girl in her class, who belives in lunitics kidnapping her mother, and more! But a jumble of things pop up between the story, such as death...
You should read this book, and some other books by the Newberry Award winning Sharon Creech, such as Heartbeat, Absolutley Normal Chaos, Chasing Redbird, Bloomability.

spartan-117 November 12, 2007 Signal To Noise by Eric S. Nylund
This book falls between fantasy and science fiction genre. It is a good read but can slow down sometimes. On a scale from 1-5, I will give this book a 4.5. Even though it is a good book, I did not give it 5 because the beginning did not pull you in. It is about an average student in the USA named Jack Potter in the distant future specializing in Computer Cyptography who discovers an alien named Wheeler. Wheeler wants to trade technologies with the human race. Unforturnately this nice deals comes with many turns and a hefty price...... A sequal to this book is A Signal Shattered.

squeezy12321 November 12,2007 The Golden Compass by Philip Pullman
I am reading a wonderful fantasy book about a young girl named Lyra Belacqua. She is content to run wild among the scholars of Jordan College. But the arrival of her fearsome uncle draws her to the heart to a terrible struggle. She hurtles toward danger in the cold far North. Lyra is destined to win or to lose this battle. On the scale of 1-5, I would rate this book a 4.5 because in the middle it confused me a bit but in the end I figured out what the author was trying to tell us. I would recommend this book to people who likes to read adventure books.

Jerm2000 Nov.10 2007 The Out Stretched Shadow by Mercedes Lackey and James Mallory

Because of his father's position in the city of Armethalieh, he has been expected to follow in his father's footsteps...

Shortymcshort Nov.09 2007 The Boy Who Lost His Face by Louis Sacher
This book is a great Realistic Fiction/Humor book. It's about a boy named David who's best friend starts hanging out with two kids who do nothing but bad things. They end up stealing Mrs. Bayfields snake head cane. They manage to steal it but David gets cought up and Mrs.Bayfield puts a "curse" on him and everything his friends do to her happends to him. liverpoolforeveNovember 11 2007 Scorpia by Anthony Horowitz
This book is a Realistic fiction/adventure book. It is in the Alex Rider series about a young boy aged 14 must act like a spy and work for the British MI6.( An organization sort of like the FBI) In this book he heads on to Venice to find if his father really was an assasin. While doing this he accidently stumbles into more trouble as he must take on a leading crime organization named Scorpia. This book gets more and more interesting as you read on and reveal Scorpia's plan. I recommend all 6th graders looking for an action-packed book to read this. On a scale of 1-5 I would rate it a 4.99

6-4 Class 2007 There's a Boy in the Girls' Bathroom by Louis Sacher
We are currently reading this book aloud in class. On a scale of 1-5, we would rate this book 4.5. This realistic fiction, humor genre is hilarious, engaging and fun to read. The main character, Bradley Chalkers, is a loner/bully who faces some challenges in school. We think, though, that the author may cause "twist" in the plot & we may see a different Bradley at the end. Read this book! You'll love it!

PumperkinXD November 9, 2007 Seabiscuit: An American Legend by Laura Hillenbrand
This book is a Legend/ Non-Fiction. The main character is Seabiscut, a legendary racehorse. Seabiscuit first came to being as a clever horse who loved to relax, but after he started training with his talented trainer, he was never the same again (in a good way). The beginning of this book isn't that interesting because its just an introduction, but the parts after that are breath-taking. I recommend this book to people who like animals... horses...

PumperkinXD November 10, 2007 Where the Red Fern Grows by Wilson Rawls
This book is a Realistic Fiction. Its a heartwarming story of a country boy, Billy, and his two coon hunting dogs, Old Dan and Little Ann. He and his two dogs dream to be the best coon hunting team in the Ozarks and they are well on their way. I think this book is very nice and is a good read for people who like Realistic Fictions and animals. My fave part of this book is how much the threesome care for each other and what they are willing to risk.

pinksparkles123 Nov. 9, 2007 The Dolphins of Laurentum by Caroline Lawrence
I have just finished this book and it is fantastic! It is an adventure and mystery book combined. This magnificant story talks about 4 close friends: Flavia, Nubia, Lupus, and Jonathan who are in search of a hidden treasure buried in the depth of the ocean just at the coast of Laurentum. Lupus, the youngest out of the 4 friends used to be a sponge-diver and can dive really deep. He starts training and getting ready to dig up the coins below the depths. On his first few tries, something terrible happened when young 8 year-old Lupus was looking for the treasure. Find out what had happened to him! After reading this wonderful book, I would rate it a 5 on a scale of 1-5 because the words the author used were very descriptive and very vivid. I could also paint pictures in my mind. In the story, the author also mentioned great philosiphers and ancient famous people in Rome. So I recommend this book to people who like reading adventure, mystery and horror books combined all together

manchesterunited8 Nov 9 The Simplest Game by Paul Gardner
THis book is about the simplest game, soccer. This book tells you almost everything you are going to need to know about soccer, how it began, the rough times, and the joy. It also tells the very bad times of soccer, like when Maradona failed to pass a blood test, cheated in a game against England, and corruptions. I would rate this book 5 out of 5 and if you like soccer, I suggest you read this book.

This book is about a boy that can't go outside because he is a third child. In his world families can only have two children . This is an adventure story about two third children who become secret friendsl I like this book because you can't predict what is going to happen next. On a scale 1-5 i give this book a 5 because I could not put it down, I just had to keep reading.
